Sergeant 1st Class Ruben G. Dominguez
Sergeant 1st Class Ruben G. Dominguez was born on February 24, 1934. He joined the US Army in 1950. He served in Korea with the 25th Infantry Division as an Infantryman from 1952-1953. In 1965, he served in Vietnam with the 101st Airborne Division until 1966. His next assignment was as a drill sergeant for an OCS Prep School in Fort Sill, Oklahoma. Shortly after, he served with the 75th 9th Infantry Division Airborne Rangers until 1970. In 1972, he married the girl next door, Guadalupe Dominquez. He later retired from the military in 1976 with 24 years of service. Ruben also retired from Kelly AFB with 23 years of civil service. He was a life member of DAV, VFW and the Alamo Silver Wings Airborne Association. Additionally, he served as a member of the elite Silver Wings Honor Guard for many years. He was a member of numerous organizations to include the Veterans Parade Association. On December 26, 2011, Sergeant 1st Class Ruben G. Dominguez went to be with the Lord at the age of 77. He is survived by his wife, his daughter, Sylvia Dominguez, four Step-Children, Mary Mora, Roland Duran, Carolyn Bondoc, and Debora Sanchez, three sisters, Elida Luna, Maria Elena Borrego, and Dolores Cuellar.He was a grandfather to 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
